Brown's Injury 'Not A Tear'

The frenzy over the news of wide receiver Reggie Brown's hamstring injury prompted plenty of calls on sports talk radio and numerous posts on message boards. But the second-year receiver smiled and gave a thumbs up after an hour-long workout Sunday morning following the team's practice.
"Everything is always good," said Brown. "It's going to be alright. It'll be alright."
Brown suffered a hamstring spasm in Saturday morning's workout. He did return in the afternoon to take some reps, but he shut it down to prevent further injury.
"It's not a tear which is important," said head coach Andy Reid. "If you take him out here and he starts beating himself out here and all of a sudden he tears it, it would be a major setback."
Brown, who had an Eagles single-season rookie record 43 grabs last season, is fully aware that the fans want to know everything that happens at Lehigh.
"Every little thing out here is news," said Brown. "Whatever goes on and whatever happens is something that many Philly fans want to know about. Everything is going to be front page.
"The wide receiver position is a position that is going ot be in the spotlight. We're going to be asked to move the ball down the field in big chunks and make big plays. It comes with a lot of responsibility."
There might not be as much commotion over Brown if his position mates were not injured as well. Wide receiver Todd Pinkston is recovering from an inflamed Achilles tendon in his left foot. Rookies Jason Avant (hyperextended knee) and Jeremy Bloom (hamstring) remain on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
The injuries have allowed rookies like Hank Baskett and Bill Sampy to get a lot of extra reps in practice. Reid is not concerned worried about toll the increased reps might take on the young receivers.
"You've got to be smart with it, but it's good for the young guys to go out here and get reps," Reid said.
INJURY UPDATE
In addition to the receivers' injuries, defensive tackle Ed Jasper has low back spasms. Fullback Jason Davis (fractured hand) will see a specialist on Monday to determin when he can return. Running back Ryan Moats (knee strain) "will be a few more days" because he is struggling with his change of direction. Tight end L.J. Smith (shoulder) will also need a couple of days.
