my mom always told me that the eyes of a person tell you what kind of person he or she is. and i really believe in it. she also told me that if you talk to someone and that person doesnt look into your eyes then he or she has something to hide or lies. brian has so beautiful eyes... i could look at them the whole day

she also told me that if you talk to someone and that person doesnt look into your eyes then he or she has something to hide or lies. Well...your mom isn't totally wrong - this is probably true in at least some situations. But I, personally, can think of at least one good reason why someone may not look another person in the eye - and it does not have anything to do with lying. A person can be very shy, and find it hard to sustain eye contact for that reason. You will find that a lot of shy people don't have very good eye contact - they don't look people in the eyes very often. They are not lying or trying to be dishonest...they are just very anxious and shy. Unfortuately - people may read shy people wrong, and think that shy people are either disinterested or lying, when it is simply not the case. I'm not saying that people should just drop their guard and think that all dishonest people are actually shy...but an extra sense could be developed for when someone is maybe shy, and when someone is trying to pull one over on you. Remember when Ricky Williams, back during his first couple of years in the NFL, would keep his helmet (complete with dark visor) on during interviews, so he didn't have to look at anyone? Well, he had something to hide alright - his severe shyness/social anxiety disorder!
