not only brian was hyped... i was too. it was such a good touchdown. the whole game was amazing Oh yes, girl - that game was incredible. Both teams were desperate for a win, and it was a dogfight. The Eagles soon showed that they were simply the better team - and there were some amazing, memorable touchdowns in that game. That first touchdown from Westy (which was scored on the second play of the game, IIRC!), and then that touchdown that Freddie Mitchell (R.I.P.) threw to Westy. Then there was that incredible touchdown where Correll Buckhalter left his feet and flew over the pylon, with the ball outstreched over the endzone (the pic I posted earlier). So many exciting moments. But I was (am) a big Ricky Williams fan, and I wanted to see him do well. I remember when Brian Dawkins slammed Ricky hard to the ground and Ricky had to leave the game. I remember near the end of the game, the camera showed a close-up of Ricky just sitting there on the sidelines, and he had an extremely pensive look on his face. It was the kind of look at made me wonder what that was all about - it was though Ricky was deeply conflicted about something, mulling something over. Seven months later Ricky retired, and started his world weed tour.

Just think of being in that lockerroom, giving speeches after every game. OMG! All of those hot, steamy bodies coming out of the shower - looking all sexy with their towels around their waists. I hear (and we've seen ) that some don't even bother to cover up with towels coming out of the shower. I don't care...it's all good!! I think I would give an extra long speech after every game, and go up to just about every player and offer them "individual encouragement". "Come here boys - we've got things to talk about!..." Yea Brian is really built back there...really fooiiine back there. He would be a joy to coach - he's sweet, and has such a cute slappable booty! Ok, I'll try to cool down now, lol. Anyhoo, I see what you're saying about carrying on in public like this, lol - but I don't think there is any need to go private with this. Since I've been seriously slacking lately with posting "rated-PG" Eagles news, it gives me something "relaxing" to talk about on here. ;D Who's here to protest anyway? LOL

you are so right.... that miami game was a battle. i just loved every minute of it! d**n... i paid too much attention to donovan back then. you know that i always thought that brian was cute but i didnt give him a lot of my attention. you know that he gets all my attention these days. you and me we are watching him! I was just like you - I paid sooo much attention to Donovan back then, although I was busy learning who the other players were. For awhile after I first started following the Eagles in '03 (because of Donovan), I would get all the 3 running backs mixed up. Then, I discovered that it was easy to tell Duce Staley apart from the others because he was the light-skinned one. It took me awhile to not get Westy and C-Buck confused. I would always think, "Now was that Westbrook or Buckhalter doing that dance on ESPN?" Finally their identities stuck with me - it was Buckhalter who danced in the endzone, lol. Now it is very easy to tell Westy and Buck apart, of course - it's just that when you are first getting used to the players, all the names and faces can run together - especially when they play the same position. When you know these players a little bit as people and are interested in them (not to mention if you have a crush on them! ) - it's interesting focusing on them during a game. But you know, I've gotten to the point where I pretty much focus on almost every player at some point during a game. It's on the internet and on these messageboards where I really focus in on Westy. That was such a fascinating play - because it took a strong, accurate throw from Freddie, and Freddie isn't even a quarterback! It was said after the game that Freddie has such a good arm because he was a baseball player, too (center fielder) - all the way through college. I guess that's why the Eagles use him for those trick plays - remember there was a game this season where he tried to do the same thing, but Brian (or whoever he was trying to throw to) was covered, and he tucked the ball back in and ran. ;D That will be one of the plays we remember you by as an Eagle, Freddie. Your Eagles days are numbered - R.I.P.! I was excited too - and then the drama of the whole review process (remember it wasn't originally ruled a t.d. and Andy Reid challenged that it was a t.d.) made it even more exciting - especially when the Ref came back and declared it a t.d.! I've always had kind-of a thing for unique guys who were their own person and didn't follow the crowd. (I'm worried that I may be loosing that a little bit, though...) So many black guys (and girls) seem like they want to fit into a certain mold - and to find someone who can let go of those social pressures and do his/her own thing is refreshing. I've liked him from the beginning - I remember the first time I had ever heard of him was when I picked up a copy of Sports Illustrated and read an article on him from back when he was still at the University of Texas. It must have been about 1997, 1998 or so. I remember first seeing those dreadlocks like it was yesterday. ;D He's sensitive, intelligent - and he shows that not every black man is trying to be a suave buppie or a hip-hop thug. I just found his whole vibe cool (I still do, although he's really been "weirding out" here lately, lol ). And I could relate to him. And I guess I've considered him a hero since he came out with the fact that he had suffered from social-anxiety disorder. Ricky's cool - he's my people, lol.

i also loved the giants game You're lucky - I didn't see either of the Giants games in 2003. Come to think of it, I didn't see either of the Giants games in '04, either - although I listened to the first one on the Internet. These are great action pics (not just the ones in this post, all of the ones you posted). And look, that's Dhani Jones in the pic above - #55. He's ours, now.

LOL, I will resist trying to caption this pic. I remember this touchdown well, too - we got the '03 San Fransico game here in ATL. This is when Brian ran a punt return all the way to the "hizzy". But our cutie seemed exhausted the last 20 yards or so, and he fell face down in the end-zone. I was like, "Why is he out-of-shape? Did they not practice that week at all, or what?" This is also the game where Carlos Emmons (another cutie I was checking out, I just liked watching that man for some reason) got hurt - it turned out to be Carlos' last game as an Eagle. Oh, and this was T.O.'s last game as a '49'er. He got hurt in this game, too - broke his collarbone.

As Westbrook goes, so does Eagles offense
By Skip Wood, USA TODAY
Brian Westbrook is all business — in his vocation and his avocation. The former has him playing running back Sunday for the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX, where he will face the New England Patriots and attempt to befuddle the defense with a brand of run-and-catch excellence that's unmatched in the NFL. The latter has him studying and admiring the intricacies of successful business models, as befits a Villanova graduate with a degree in management information systems, one who is intrigued by successful companies and how they became that way.
He fully expects the vocation and the avocation to eventually flip-flop.
It has been that way since Westbrook was 6 and one of his lifelong friends, Mac James, was 9. Playing sports always was a shared passion. But unlike James, Westbrook also had passions for things such as manning the most successful lemonade stand.
"Even in college, when a lot of us would be talking about summer jobs like camp counselors or doing offseason workout programs, Brian, he's talking about going to work for Nasdaq for the summer," James says.
Westbrook did just that.
"Yeah," says James, who pauses, then chuckles, "Brian's always been a little bit different in that regard."
Not different, just practical. That's how Westbrook sees it.
"Football is a sport where, like, you can get hurt one day and not have a job tomorrow," says Westbrook, who was named Sunday to the Pro Bowl, replacing injured Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander.
"I mean, there's no guaranteed contracts, so you basically have to make the most of what you have and the time that you have it. I think too many people in this league kind of lose sight of what happens next."
But for now, first Roman numeral things first.
"It's just like in business," Westbrook, 25, says with a grin. "You have an opportunity, and what you do will determine whether it succeeds or fails."
When Correll Buckhalter tore up his right knee in this season's second preseason game, the Eagles knew Westbrook would have to carry a greater load than expected, and the third-year player succeeded with aplomb:
• He had a career-high 812 rushing yards on 177 attempts in preventing defenses from paying too much attention to quarterback Donovan McNabb and target Terrell Owens.
• Westbrook's career-high 73 catches, some from the wideout slot, were tops in the league by a running back, as were his 703 receiving yards and six touchdown receptions.
• He became the primary target of defenses when Owens went down late in the season. Yet he allayed fears the Eagles were cooked by rushing for 96 yards and catching five passes for 39 yards in the NFC title game against the Atlanta Falcons and contributing 117 total yards a week earlier against the Minnesota Vikings.
• He returned 20 punts in 2003, including two for touchdowns, but was kept from that duty this season because of his increased workload. But Eagles coach Andy Reid says Westbrook presents an intriguing option for Sunday.
It's clear how much the Eagles missed Westbrook when he sat out last season's playoffs after injuring his left arm in the final regular-season game. Duly impressed is Patriots linebacker Willie McGinest.
"Westbrook is definitely one of the key players on that offense," McGinest says. "He's explosive and he has picked up a lot of the slack for a lot of the other guys and is making it happen for them."
Yet Westbrook does so without fanfare.
"He never has," says his dad, Ron. "That's just not Brian. He might spike the ball now and again, and that's about it, but it's sure not showboating. It's really being humble and being proud to be where he is."
Adds his mother, Zelda, "Brian remembers where he came from."
