| One son of Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid was accused of pulling a gun on a motorist following a traffic dispute, and another was found to have drug paraphernalia in his car following a crash, authorities said Wednesday.
West Conshohocken police said Britt Reid, 21, allegedly pulled the gun Tuesday morning. That was several hours before Garrett Reid, 24, was involved in an auto accident in Plymouth Township, Montgomery County.
Neither brother was immediately charged with a crime.
Britt Reid was driving on Matson Ford Road near Conshohocken, Montgomery County, according to a source, when he got into an argument with another driver about which driver had been in the proper lane. He allegedly approached the victim's car yelling, then returned to his vehicle and got a handgun. He then pointed it directly at the victim and smiled, according to an affidavit of probable cause. He then drove away, but the victim noted his license plate number and reported it to police, according to the affidavit. The vehicle was registered to Andy Reid and his wife, Tammy.
West Conshohocken police confirmed Tuesday night that Britt Reid was under investigation, but released no details.
Police were issued with a search warrant for the Reids' Villanova home, authorizing officers to take any platinum-colored handguns found there, but it was unclear if police found any such guns.
Garrett Reid was driving Tuesday afternoon when his black Jeep Liberty sports utility vehicle collided with a red Ford Taurus at the intersection of Germantown Pike and Arch Road at 2:25 p.m., according to Plymouth Township police.
Witnesses reported that Reid was traveling eastbound on Germantown Pike at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at a red light at Arch Road. Reid's vehicle struck the rear driver's side of the other vehicle.
The driver of the Ford Taurus, a 55-year-old woman, was seriously injured and airlifted to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
She was released from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday.
During the investigation, police said they found Reid in possession of drug paraphernalia.
Reid was not seriously hurt, but was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital for a blood test, which is common in this type of accident investigation, police said.
Results of the blood test were not immediately released.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Andy Reid was in Southern California at the time of the accident. According to an Eagles official, it was unknown whether Reid was still there.
In a statement Wednesday, an Eagles official said: ''We're monitoring all reports and investigating ourselves, but have no further comment at this time.''
Attempts to reach the Reid family for comment Wednesday were not immediately successful.
