With Owens suspended, Eagles make string of roster moves November 9, 2005 PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Terrell Owens was put on the reserve/suspended list as the Philadelphia Eagles made a string of roster moves Wednesday while losing center Hank Fraley for the season after shoulder surgery.
The Eagles re-signed tight end Chad Lewis and signed offensive lineman Jamaal Jackson from their practice squad, linebacker Dedrick Roper from Pittsburgh's practice squad and put backup linebacker Jason Short on injured reserve.
Fraley was placed on injured reserve after surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder on Wednesday morning. He had started all but one game at center for the Eagles since 2001. Second-year pro Trey Darilek was listed as Fraley's backup.
Owens' suspension opened a roster spot for the next three games, allowing the Eagles to bring in Lewis for his third stint with the team. Starting tight end L.J. Smith received a concussion in the first half of Sunday's loss to the Washington Redskins and did not return.
Lewis was not re-signed after last season when he sprained his foot in the NFC championship game win over Atlanta. He caught a pair of touchdown passes in that game as the Eagles defeated the Falcons 27-10 to advance to the Super Bowl.
Last season, three-time Pro Bowler Lewis had 29 catches for 267 yards and three touchdowns. For his career, the former Brigham Young walk-on has caught 223 passes for 2,285 yards and 23 touchdowns.
The Eagles also added center Dominic Furio to the practice squad.
